Oak kitchen - 2024

Blending Japandi minimalism with classic Swedish charm, this handcrafted oak kitchen was build to last. Designed for a warm and cozy Bucharest apartment.

Our challenge was fitting a fully equipped kitchen into 9 square meters, without it ever feeling cramped. We designed a smart layout with workspaces along two parallel walls, connected by a custom wooden pegboard that adds both function and character. Despite the compact footprint, there’s room for everything: a full-size fridge, dishwasher, generous storage, and even a cozy dining nook. A sash window keeps the countertop clear when open, letting in light and air without sacrificing workspace.

We integrated slim drawers into the baseboards—perfect for storing oven trays, platters, and other flat items.

To achieve a natural, almost raw wood feel, we finished the surfaces with a two-part lacquer at just 2% sheen. The result is a silky-smooth texture that’s fully waterproof—even around the sink—and built to withstand daily wear with ease.

Custom-built light boxes cast a soft, warm glow that beautifully complements the natural tones of the wood.

The bases and drawers are made of beech plywood with a solid oak edge banding. The fronts are painted MDF with a solid oak handle.

This fully adjustable pegboard is custom-built in our shop, with every component—from the solid wood frame to the handcrafted brass hooks—designed to move freely between holes for maximum flexibility. At the base, we added a removable, oversized cutting board that fits neatly over the stovetop, offering extra prep space when needed.
